COMMITTED CRIMINAL DEFENSE

Criminal charges can turn your entire life upside down. The government has enormous resources, prosecutors, investigators, and law enforcement working to convict you.

“A client is extremely lucky if they get… an attorney that cares as much as Mr. Hardy does.”

I have decades of courtroom experience, defending clients charged with all types of crimes. These range from Murder in the First Degree to Disorderly Conduct. Every time, I fight for acquittals, seeking dismissals and reduced charges. I constantly develop strategic trial defenses and challenge unreliable witnesses and forensic evidence. I scrutinize police procedures and identification issues; I litigate illegal searches and constitutional violations… always, protecting clients like you from exaggerated claims

Securing Better Plea Deals and Minimizing Penalties

Most NYC criminal cases resolve through pleas, not trials. Prosecutors push hard for maximum penalties, especially in serious charges like assault, drug offenses, or white-collar crimes. A dedicated lawyer to your case negotiates from strength—using discovered weaknesses in the case, alternative explanations, or mitigating factors to demand reduced charges, lower sentences, or diversion programs. Their reputation for readiness to fight at trial makes prosecutors more willing to compromise rather than risk losing. Passive lawyers often accept initial offers without pushback, leading to unnecessary convictions or harsher terms. Your defense attorney should fight for every concession: dropping enhancements, avoiding mandatory minimums, or securing probation over jail. This approach preserves employment, housing, immigration status, and family stability. In a system designed to pressure defendants, aggressive representation shifts leverage back to you, often transforming a devastating charge into a manageable resolution.

NYC COURTS STAFF SHORTAGE IS NOT NEWS

The New York Post article (June 15, 2025) reports a critical staffing shortage in NYC courts, with up to 35% of court officer positions unfilled. Applications have plummeted by more than 70% (from 110,000+ a decade ago to ~28,000 recently), largely due to pension reforms that cut benefits and extended the retirement age.
The union warns this creates a “powder keg” of violence, with rising incidents (fights, slashings, a near-fatal stabbing in Manhattan Criminal Court), fewer operable courtrooms, rushed cases, skipped breaks, and security risks. Union leaders emphasize: “If we don’t feel safe at work, how is the public supposed to feel safe?” The future looks “bleak and very dangerous.”
The Office of Court Administration notes recent hires. The tone is urgent and alarmist, blaming policy decisions for endangering court safety and the delivery of justice.

Do not take a chance; hire a dedicated attorney committed to your case.
